Replast specialises in the manufacture of products using high-pressure plastic injection moulding, ensuring high precision, consistent geometry, control over material properties, compliance with industrial production requirements, consistent quality and cost-effective production at scale.
What is plastic injection moulding?
Injection moulding is a manufacturing process that involves filling the cavity of a metal mould with liquid plastic resin, which then cools to form a plastic part. It is most commonly used for the large-scale production of plastic parts due to low material waste and the low cost per part.
This is the ideal manufacturing process for industries such as medical equipment, consumer goods and the automotive sector.
The advantages of injection moulding
1. The ability to manufacture parts with complex geometries
2. High surface detail
3. High product consistency
4. Efficiency in mass production
5. High productivity of the production process
6. Optimal use of materials
7. High and consistent product quality
Injection moulding
The main stages of production
Melting of the polymer
Pressure injection
Re-pressing
Once the mould has been filled, additional pressure is applied to compensate for material shrinkage and ensure dimensional accuracy and the absence of defects.
Removing the item
The mould opens, and the finished plastic product is ejected from the mould either automatically or manually.
Cooling
The material in the mould gradually cools, hardens and acquires the required mechanical properties.
In the process of manufacturing plastic parts, various polymer components are combined and, in molten form, are injected under pressure into prepared moulds:
- Removable, fixed structures, semi-removable;
- Manual, with automation;
- With a horizontal/vertical split plane;
- With one or more detachable panels.
Machines used for injection moulding are equipped with advanced software control systems and are characterised by their reliability, functionality and safety, provided that all recommendations and regulatory requirements are followed. Custom-made plastic products can be produced in series or in small batches. The range of plastic products is virtually limitless – using specialised equipment, it is possible to manufacture plastic components for domestic or industrial use, as well as plastic profiles for the production of window systems and doors. Please call us if you require advice on TPA models, options for raw materials, the specifics of the manufacturing process, or the feasibility of producing a particular type of polymer product.
